Ebb Tide, Rhossili
The Bristol Channel has the second highest tidal range in the world, exceeded only by the Bay of Fundy in Canada. Hence at low tide it’s a very long walk to the water’s edge at Rhossili! Worm’s Head is accessible … Continue reading

Zennor, Cornwall
This is a painting started some time ago and completed today. It is from a sketch I made on a visit to the ancient village of Zennor near St Ives a couple of years ago. I tucked myself away from … Continue reading

Worms Head, Rhossili
Looking towards Worm’s Head from the Rhossili cliff tops. The Worm snakes out for about a mile into the Bristol Channel and is only accessible during a window of about four hours at low tide. This is a 10×12 inch … Continue reading

Dog Walkers, Langland Bay
I don’t post a painting for several months and then two come along in as many days! I made this small painting today, and it’s still glistening wet. It’s a 10x12inch oil painting on canvas board, and took about three … Continue reading

Moonlight over the Great Tor
This is a bit different for me – a nocturne of Three Cliffs Bay, Gower, looking towards the Great Tor. I painted it in one hit today, and it’s still wet. I need to take another photograph when it’s dry. … Continue reading

Dog-walker, Caswell, Gower
This painting was finished this morning although it was started some weeks ago. Caswell Bay is one of the more easily accessible bays of Gower with a broad sandy beach. Oil on canvas board, 12 inches square (30x30cm).

Moon rising over Mumbles Head
The weather has been miserable over the last week, mist and murk, so I haven’t been able to get out drawing. Instead I’ve been finishing a few paintings that have been hanging about in the studio for far too long. … Continue reading

Three Cliffs, high tide, summer morning
This is a reworking of a painting I completed and posted here last June. Not sure if it’s an improvement! It’s another 10inch square oil painting on canvas board.
Mumbles, November light
An oil painting of Mumbles Head looking across Bracelet Bay towards the lighthouse on a grey, damp, November morning. Ten inches square on canvas board.

Frames from St Ives, Cornwall
An oil painting of Langland Point finished today. Not the first time I’ve tackled this subject, and it’s one I now paint from memory. The second painting I completed some time ago en plein air at Porthmeor Beach in St Ives. I … Continue reading
