Rocks, Porthmeor Beach, St Ives

IMG_7394

30cm square oil painting of rocks on Porthmeor Beach, St Ives, Cornwall. This painting was worked up from sketches made on the spot last month. My problem is that I tend to tighten up and over articulate detail in paintings produced in the studio. I’ve tried to keep this loose, but compare with smaller sketch of this subject previously posted.

Twenty years ago I sat on Porthmeor Beach holydaying with my family. A wonderfully beautiful place .

Thanks for your comment. Yes, Porthmeor really is a beautiful place – has to be one of my favourite beaches in the UK.
